Buffalo Zoo – Fun for All Ages

Known for its long rich history and 23.5 acres of land, Buffalo Zoo is one of the most famous tourist destinations near Niagara Falls and ranks second in size in Western New York. Every year the zoo is visited by over 400,000 tourists.

The Buffalo Zoo opened in 1875. Its history begins when Jacob Bergtold introduces two deer to the public, but they have to be provided with a home. A place has been provided in the area of ​​today’s Delaware Park, and the collection of animals is gradually increasing.

At the end of the last century, the mission of the zoo changed from collecting as many animals as possible to rescuing endangered species. Efforts are also made to acquaint visitors as much as possible with the peculiarities of each animal.

Today, the zoo houses over 320 species of exotic plants. The animals are divided into sections – one of the oldest is Reptile House (since 1942), Children`s Zoo, The Gorilla Habitat Building, and others. Some of the newest sections are Vanishing Animals Exhibit, Arctic Edge Exhibit, Rainforest Falls Exhibit.

Buffalo Zoo is open all year round and offers the opportunity for corporate gatherings or birthday parties. Sufficient space is provided for the animals to be able to move freely and in the closest possible environment to their natural habitat.

The opening hours of Buffalo Zoo are every day from 10.00 a.m. to 4 p.m. Weekends are only Thanksgiving and Christmas. Some other holidays are part-time.

The price for an adult is $ 12.5, and for children from 2 to 12 years is $ 9.25. For adults over 65, there is a discount and the yen is $ 10.25. Children under 2 are allowed free of charge. The building also has a paid parking lot, in which buses and campers are not allowed. From 1 November to 28 February, when the tourist season is over, parking is free. For the rest of the year, the price for a car per day is $ 5.
